Volcanoes national park is also known as Parc National de Volcans ‘’PVN’’. Volcanoes national park is the top-visited national park in Rwanda, a tourism destination located in the northern province of Rwanda within Musanze village. Volcanoes national park is Rwanda’s oldest national park in Africa, a conservation area for the endangered mountain gorillas. Although Volcanoes national park harbors other wildlife species which includes buffaloes, forest hogs, bush pigs, duikers, spotted hyenas, and primate species like the endangered mountain gorillas, chimpanzee, golden monkeys, bird species, and Virunga volcanic chained mountains.
Mountain Gorilla trekking is a highly ranked activity done in the volcanoes national park which gives visitors an opportunity to explore this fabulous forest as they search of the habituated mountain gorilla’s groups which are ‘’18’’ in total, where 12 mountain gorilla families are open for gorilla trekking and the remaining mountain gorilla families reserved for research.
Mountain gorilla trekking begins very early in the morning starting with a briefing at the park’s headquarters regarding the rules, regulations, and expectations. After every traveler is allocated to a mountain gorilla family to trek accompanied by a knowledgeable park guide/ranger.
Golden monkey tracking
Golden monkey tracking is the second best-selling done tourism activity at Volcanoes national park. With two habituated golden monkey families ready to be tracked on a daily basis. Golden monkeys tracking begins very early in the morning with a headquarters’ morning briefing about the rules, & regulations of golden tracking.
