Gombe national park is a truly wild destination in Tanzania, Gombe National Park nature was valued in 1943 after it was designated by the government as a game reserve. Gombe national park became popular after the research that was conducted by Dr. Jane Goodall in 1960 which is among the longest-running study of primate species worldwide. Gombe Conservation's status was changed to a National Park in 1968 and started operations in 1978 after chimpanzees were made used to human presence. Gombe national park is situated 16 km just from the north of Kigoma town along the shores of Lake Tanganyika the world's second deepest lake in western Tanzania.


How to get there

Travelers can drive or schedule or a charter flight from Mwanza, Dar es salaam, and Arusha or take a fast train from Dar es salaam or use a ferry along the shores of Lake Tanganyika from Zambia or Burundi to Kigoma town. To access Gombe travelers must use a boat from Kigoma.
