It is actually becoming a top safari destination, attracting visitors who also come to enjoy the African wildlife including Leopard and Lions along with a wide variety of plains game. Let's not forget about the more than 1,000 birds species recorded in the country.

Day by Day

Day 1: Your First Encounter

Your guide will meet you at Entebbe International Airport or at your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala and we will then drive West through farmlands, marshes and swamps seeing the beautiful countryside. We arrive at Kibale National Park in time to enjoy a picnic lunch before a briefing with the park rangers, who will then lead us into the tropical rain forest where we will make our first encounter with our closest relative. We will spend around one hour with the chimps before we hike back out and then head to the camp located near the Kibale National Park in the late afternoon (Included: Lunch Box and Dinner).

Day 2: The Chimpanzee Habituation Experience

After an early breakfast we will drive to the Kibale Forest Ranger Station to meet with our Chimpanzee Guide and Tracking team, before dawn. We then head out with the tracking team to the nests that the chimps built the night before. Dawn is breaking as the chimps begin to awake. You will spend the full day tracking the family of chimps. You will work closely with the rangers, recording behavior of individual chimps and may even have very close interactions. When the sun begins to set and the chimps have nestled into their newly built nests, we will make our way back to our lodge. The experience is unlike any other chimp experience in East Africa. You will have a full day in close contact with the chimps, providing you with a unique experience, while assisting the rangers in habituating new families and documenting the behavior of the individual members (Included: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch, and Dinner).

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth and the Kazinga Chanel

After breakfast we drive south along the Rwenzori Mountains arriving at Queen Elizabeth National Park. We will take the opportunity for a game drive in the “Breeding Grounds” near the shores of Lake George. This is the primary area where Male Kob rut, battling one another for a mate. With all the action, Lions and Leopard are often unnoticed, which provides an exceptional opportunity for the predators to get within very close range of their prey. After a picnic lunch we then make our way to the Mweya Peninsula where we find the launch site for a spectacular boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. Be sure to get the best seat on the boat (located on the left side of the boat), for this up close and informational tour taking in a variety of shore birds, while giving you a new perspective to view Elephants, Buffalo, Hippo and Crocodile from the water. After the cruise we will head to the Lodge overlooking Queen Elizabeth from the escarpment (Included: Breakfast, Lunch Box, and Dinner).

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today we make a long drive to the famous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which is part of the greater Virunga Ecosystem. We will find our Camp in the Southern Sector of the park, located perched on a hill overlooking the dense forests to the north and the impressive volcanoes to the south. If we arrive early enough you can participate in an optional guided walk to visit the Pygmy communities living in these rich forested areas (Included: Breakfast, Lunch Box, and Dinner).

Day 5: An Unforgettable Experience with the Endangered Mountain Gorilla

We rise early for breakfast and to prepare our packs before heading to the ranger station. The rangers will select the family in which you will be tracking, depending on your requests, the distance of the family, and your fitness level. We are then given a short briefing with our lead ranger, before we head off into the dense forest on a hike that can be fairly easy or very demanding depending on the location of the gorilla family. The trek can range from 30 minutes to 5 hours, before we come into close contact with the family. The rangers will lead you into the middle of the family where you will have up to 1 hour to enjoy this magical experience. The youngsters are often playful and can even be a little curious, venturing rather close to visitors. After our one hour is up we start our hike back to the ranger station, stopping to enjoy a packed lunch in the forest. We then head back to the lodge with our fond memories (Included: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch, and Dinner).

Day 6: Return to Entebbe

After a relaxing breakfast we will finish our trip driving back to Entebbe/Kampala. The drive takes us through some the agricultural areas and swamps as we drive north-east eventually meeting Lake Victoria. We will make a stop at the equator for some pictures and an opportunity to pick up some souvenirs from some of the local craftsmen. Your guide will drop you at your hotel in Entebbe or at the airport (Included: Breakfast and Lunch Box). This drive takes 9 to 10 hours, so it is recommended to consider flying back from Bwindi to Entebbe at an additional cost.
