The Tepeth tribe cultural experience of Uganda is that of the natives, who are the hunters and gatherers of northeastern Uganda. Tepeth-tribe culture can be experienced in a genuinely authentic way on Mount Moroto in the Karamoja region. The Tepeth are thought to have been the first people to live in the Karamoja plains, but the present settlers drove them far up the mountain. They used to be hunters and gatherers, but during the 1970s and 1980s, as wildlife populations declined, they adopted a new lifestyle as agro-pastoralists. Tourists learn how to prepare traditional meals, sing and dance to traditional folklore, how to locally make the traditional Karimojong beads and accessories, experience the ancient traditions of foreseers, listen to the stories from different elders, and play the Karimojong traditional games.
