Emburara Farm Lodge was named after the Ugandan local tall fresh grass called Emburara that is mostly treasured by the Banyankole cattle keepers because it is the best for cows because it boosts the fat content of milk, hence enabling high-quality cow ghee production.

Emburara Farm Lodge is the perfect base to explore the famous Ugandan National Parks and attractions located in the south-western part of Uganda! One of the best worlds’ destinations for chimpanzee tracking is Kibale Forest National Park, which is just approximately a 2 hours’ drive from the Emburara farm lodge, Queen Elizabeth National park to explore the unique tree-climbing lions of the Ishasha sector, and Just 45minutes -1-hour drive from the Emburara farm lodge to Lake Mburo National Park harboring elegant Rothschild giraffes, zebra, and antelopes. Bwindi impenetrable forest national park that harbors the famous Mountain Gorillas, takes about a 4-hour drive.

Emburara Farm Lodge's main activities revolve around the lives of the treasured Ankole long-horned cattle. Depending on the time of day you would love to encounter the traditional long-horned cattle, our resident local tour guide will advise on what activities tourists can participate in.

Ankole Kraal experience

Tour the Ankole Kraal experience, where travelers can enjoy up-close personal encounters or as a group with a variety of exotic cows. Visit the Emburara farm and have a view of individual lifetime experiences as you tour this farm with a diversity of animal species. On this tour, you will be able to touch and feed different animals, learn from the locals, and take memorable pictures while on this farm.

The most important part of the Emburara farm visit is feeding the cows with hay or milking them. During your tour to this farm, tourists can enjoy the milking shed as they learn everything about the milking process.

Banana Brewing Experience

Tourists can learn how Uganda’s local banana beer, also known as Tonto, is made locally by the use of banana plants in Ankole culture. The banana beer process is done by the community men and women who turn a banana plant into beer with the use of banana leaves. You will meet our local tour guide, who will take you to the community in the afternoon where local people make the local beer. You will start by peeling the banana, crush the banana using banana leaves, and ferment until it is ready to be consumed.

Cycling experience

A stay at Emburara Farm Lodge offers tourists a good time to experience the stunning activities. If you have enough time, travelers can engage in cycling within the local communities to encounter nature through touring the tropical equatorial rain forest, view the beautiful landscape, and adventure with many wildlife species such as gazelles, giraffes, and zebras, among others.

The best time for wildlife viewing in Lake Mburo National Park is in the dryer seasons, from June to September and December to February. However, Lake Mburo National Park is also wonderful to visit during the wet seasons from March to May and October to November. Lake Mburo National Park can only be accessed by road.
