What can I do in Kibale Forest National Park?

Chimpanzee Trekking & Habituation

Kibale National Park is in southwestern Uganda, situated in a tropical rainforest that protects numerous wildlife species, which have attracted many tourists to Kibale Forest National Park. This park has contributed a lot to Uganda’s tourism industry because it protects the endangered species that bring many tourists to Uganda. Chimpanzees share up to 90% of human DNA.

Uganda in total has approximately 5,000 chimpanzees, and Kibale National Park accommodates over 1,500 chimpanzees. Tourists can decide to participate in chimpanzee trekking that will allow them to spend an hour in an African jungle watching them play with each other and all the interactions, but if they want to have more time with the chimpanzees, they can opt for a chimpanzee habituation experience that guarantees they will spend more time with the chimpanzees and researchers.

Birding Life

Uganda is among the world’s leading bird-watching destinations, with some birds being endemic to the Great Rift Valley. Kibale Forest protects around 450 birds, which include turacos, open-billed storks, secretary birds, black-bellied bustards, weaver birds, swallow-tailed bee-eaters, grey herons, francolins, red-throated bee-eaters, geese, woodland kingfishers, hornbills, and the water’s edge ducks, stilts, and plovers.
