Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge

Trekking chimpanzees in the African jungle, as they swing from tree branches within the canopy, is exhilarating in nature. Kyambura Gorge chimps cross and scamper on the trees above the beautiful gorge, and travelers must cross the river using natural bridges in order to trek chimps. Kyambura Gorge chimpanzee trekking lasts from between 2–3 hours; descending to the steep slope gorge and crossing through the log bridges over the river needs some level of fitness.

 

Chimpanzee trekking encounters can also be done in the nearby Kalinzu Forest, which is a reserved forest that is located just 30 minutes’ drive from the Kyambura Gorge Lodge. Kalinzu Forest protects a community of approximately 40 habituated chimpanzees.
