what can i do in the Rushaga Sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park?

Rushaga Sector is one of the four sectors offering mountain gorilla trekking experiences in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park; other sectors include the Buhoma Sector, Nkuringo Sector, and Ruhija Sector

The Rushaga sector is situated in the southern part of Bwindi impenetrable. The Rushaga sector is home to endangered mountain gorillas, which makes it worth a visit for many travelers.

Rushanga sector is the most visited sector in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park because many mountain gorilla families are habituated there, including Kahungye, Nshongi gorilla family, Bweza gorilla family, Bikyingi gorilla family, Mishaya gorilla family, Mucunguzi gorilla family, and Rwigi gorilla family.

Gorilla trekking is an incredible tourism activity that starts in the morning at exactly 8:00 a.m. after a briefing at the headquarters about gorilla trekking dos and don’ts during the trek. Then travelers are allocated to a gorilla as you set off in the forest, accompanied by a well-trained park ranger who will tell you more information about the mountain gorilla’s behaviors and lifestyle.

Rushanga sector has more than 8 habituated mountain gorilla families, and only 64 gorilla permits are available on a single day through the Uganda Wildlife Authority through a tour operator like Devine African Safaris

.

Therefore, during the dry season, travelers are interested in trekking the gentle giants’ apes, so we advise you to book a gorilla trekking tour six months before your arrival on Ugandan safaris.

Rushaga sector is the only sector in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park where mountain gorilla habituation can be conducted. Mountain gorilla habituation is the process by which the gorilla is put under training to get used to human beings. This process takes about 2 to 3 years to be completed.

The gorilla habituation experience starts immediately after the morning briefing. Travelers are accompanied by researchers, park rangers, and doctors. But it cost $1500 per person

when is the best time to travel to Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National park?

Rushaga Sector can be toured at any time of the year, although the best time to visit is during the dry months of June to September and December to February because in the dry months, there is less or no rainfall in the park, therefore the trekking trails are dry for nature walks and gorilla trekking.
